Nightlife in Mazatlán
In
The Golden Zone: For those interested in dancing the night
away, the eye-catching
Valentinos is for disco lovers (cover charge
is around 50 pesos). In the same building is another
disco called Bora Bora with mainly a younger crowd (hot
time is between midnight and 4:00am). The cover charge on
weekends includes a few drinks.
Mikonos is in the same building but offers
live music.
There
are many places with live music for dancing. Early birds
might want to visit such places as
Hotel Las
Flores or
El Cenote
Lobby Bar at
Royal Villas Resort where dancing to live music starts at
7 pm. Dancing starts at about the same time at Playa
Mazatlán Hotel at the
Terraza Playa Restaurant where you can spend a romantic
evening dining and dancing to live music or enjoy a quiet
drink under the stars while watching the silver waves
breaking on the beach. You'll find country music and
dancing at Casa Country.
Señor
Frogs is a
lively place to spend an evening, with a restaurant and a
bar showing videos, and offering lively dancing after
dinner. Joe's Oyster Bar
overlooks the beach and can be
accessed from either side. This is a very popular hang out for young
people on the prowl. Very crowded curing Spring Break and is not just
for tourists...many locals head here as well. Open day and night 'til about
midnight, enjoy rock and roll with no cover charge.
Pepe Toro is a gay/lesbian
disco at Av. de las Garzas.
There is a good
"Fiesta"
at Playa Mazatlán on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays which
includes a buffet meal, unlimited drinks, live
entertainment and dancing. Starts at 7 pm and costs about
200 pesos a person. This price includes a buffet,
all-you-can-drink, and entertainment. Sundays at 8:00 pm
Playa Mazatlán Hotel has fireworks.
The
Angela
Peralta Theatre (downtown) offers concerts, ballet and
opera from time to time. Ask your hotel concierge for
information on current events.
Peso-Stretcher: For free evening entertainment,
stroll the Malecón from Valentino's going south, or
around the high-divers tower on the Paseo Claussen. There
are several monuments and fountain statues along this
walk. Enjoy snacks from a barrage of food vendor carts.
Sunday nights there are free music concerts in the
Central Square in front of the Cathedralgreat for people-watching!
